Another very good book that one of my engineers gave me is: Unlimited Partnership: God and the Businessman http://store.bobyandian.com/detail.asp?ID=13 It is a small, quick read book that really helped gel more of God's relation to 'our' business.

Formula for Making Any Day Good

The following was taken from the book , Enthusiasm Makes The Differenceby Norman Vincent Peale

Formula for Making Any Day Good:

1-Think a good day. First, see it good in consciousness. Do not allow mental reservation that it will not be good.
2-Thank a good day. Give thanks in advance for the good day ahead.
3-Plan a good day. Specifically and definitely know what you propose to do with the day.
4-Put good into the day. Put bad thoughts, bad attitudes, bad actions into a day and… Continue

Strengthen Those Passwords

Is your password good enough? If you think you can get by with that short easy-to-use password that can be typed with your left hand, you might want to think again. My “standard” password wasn’t that simple, but it was simple enough to have been hacked on my web site, blog, twitter, and Linked In. You don’t need to wait for your host to shut down your web site because of the spam it’s spewing out. You don’t have to wait until you’re refused access to your own blog. The hours you’ll spend rebuild… Continue

DEALING WITH A DATA BREACH

INFORMATION COMPROMISE AND THE RISK OF IDENTITY THEFT:
GUIDANCE FOR YOUR BUSINESS

These days, it is almost impossible to be in business and not collect or hold personally identifying information — names and addresses, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, or other account numbers — about your customers, employees, business partners, students, or patients. If this information falls into the wrong hands, it could put these individuals at risk for identity theft.

Still, not all per… Continue

A very wise man named Lou Holtz once said...

Show me someone who has done something worthwhile, and I'll show you someone who has overcome adversity... The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely the one who dropped it

Wings Like Eagles

I was at a stop light, which is very common here in Kokomo, and I watched a bird flying overhead in awe. The bird's wings were spread and it seemed to be floating. At first I thought it probably was a kite, but then it flapped it's wings, once, and continued to float. I realized that the bird was taking a ride on the wind. A very familiar verse came to my mind.

Isaiah 40:31 "(But) they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,… Continue

The Reward for Work Well Done

"The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more." Jonas Salk

What is your attitude toward work? Is work something to be tolerated and endured? Are you living for nights and weekends? Do you keep one eye on the clock, longing for the workday to come to an end? Do you dread Mondays and get a pit in your stomach as your weekend comes to an close? Or…

Is your work an important counter balance in your life? Do you look forward to the challenges of a new day of work? Is yo… Continue

Let it go or don't grow.

Just a quick thought that I had the other day:

Some business owners (myself included) love to work on our business by building our brand, keeping quality, relevant information available for our clients and prospects, and planning for the future of our companies. And, according to the E-myth that's what a true entrepreneur should be doing - working on our business instead of in our business.

For example, perhaps a chef/restaurant… Continue

Time Management Tip - Create Uninterrupted Time

When I attended my first time management training seminar in the late 80's, I was told there are four things you can do when you are given an activity: 1) You can do it, 2) You can delay it for a future time, 3) You can delegate it and 4) You can dump it. I've followed this process for almost 20 years successfully.

In the past 2-3 years, I've noticed that is is harder to find the time to plan and that it is often hard to stay focused when working on an activity. The culprits are email and cell… Continue

Adoption Stories from the Farm

No subject melts me like adoption. I am blessed to be a dad through adoption, twice! If you are a Facebook friend you might have read about one of our Apple Family Farm cow share families, Brian and Mandy Harvey, and the incredible journey they are still on in welcoming one of the world's 147 million orphans into their family and into their home. Within a month or so, they will be flying to India to pick up Mia, their daughter, and bring her back to Indiana. If anyone is interested in following… Continue
